The NFL games were snoozers as a whole. Six teams were on byes which meant a good number of Huskies were enjoying their week off. Those who were in action made sure to make their presence known.
Thursday Night Football featured the New York Jets and their #FormerDawg pass-catching tandem of Jermaine Kearse and Austin Seferian-Jenkins. They combined for four catches for 58 yards and seem to have fallen behind the emerging Robbie Anderson in the passing game.
Defensive stars Shaq Thompson and Desmond Trufant’s respective teams faced off. Thompson’s Panthers pulled off a close win despite Thompson not making it into the box score. I don’t have his snap count available at this time but it doesn’t look like he was inactive for the game. Trufant was on the receiving end of a Cam Newton rushing touchdown, as the former Auburn star dunked on the cornerback.

Hau’oli Kikaha was active for the Saints after trade rumors swirled around him prior to the NFL’s trading deadline. He answered the call with two tackles, including a sack. His teammate Senio Kelemete played the whole game at right guard and opened up lanes for big days from Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara.
New booth star Tony Romo poked some fun at Marcus Peters, saying that Peters makes Deion Sanders look like a good tackler. Romo was still complimentary of the Chief’s coverage skills, and Peters did have three unassisted takedowns on the day.
Last week we had a poll to see who you root for the most in the NFL among the former Huskies. Jermaine Kearse might have received a boost from his playing days in Seattle but he was the far-and-away victor, coming more than 30 votes ahead of second-place Kasen Williams.
Let me know if I missed someone or something! I wasn’t able to watch as much football as normal this weekend and might have forgotten something or someone.
